When I started on this journey with Rodan and Fields, I knew that it was a life-changing opportunity; a way for me and my family to become financially secure, a way to achieve financial independence and to ultimately build wealth. What I did not anticipate was just how much it would enrich my life.

Through Rodan and Fields and the direct sales business model, I have grown as a person. This is not a “what’s in it for me?” type of business. I would even venture to say that if this is your attitude, you will never be successful in this industry. The reason is, because the system has at its core, a spirit of giving and sharing, rather than of taking and pushing the competition out of the way.

As we share our knowledge with people who are “looking”, we do it with the firm understanding that what we are showing them can truly change their lives. It is not about what's in it for us, it is about sharing. It is a way for average, hard-working folks to become financially solvent and even wealthy.

I know that this business is not for everyone. I don’t try to convince and I don’t take it personally when people don’t see the opportunity; it takes a special attitude to be successful. I just share the knowledge. The adage “You can bring a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink” is so true. People will either see it or they won’t. When they see it, the transformation that takes place is unbelievable and when they don’t, I just keep sharing it with others. (I keep "pouring coffee" as we say).

What is most rewarding is the fact that anyone can be successful in this business, regardless of credentials, education, race, nationality, creed or annual income. Where else can you go in the business world where this is true? It is not likely that one would ever be able to become the CEO of a company without at least a college degree, many years of service, a substantial amount of experience, and a track record of success, yet in direct sales, none of these is a requirement for one to succeed. All it takes is the desire to succeed and the ability to share (duplicate) what we are taught by the company. Additionally, there is no glass ceiling (you can write your own pay check) and you will never be downsized.

This economy has been a tough one and it has forced changes on me and my family that we were not anticipating. I did not have a Plan B, but what I have discovered in the months since my position was eliminated, is a new and improved “me”. Every day something new unfolds, a new aspect of my personal development is exposed and I find myself welcoming the change, as well as the process.

I work from home and am able to spend valuable time with my husband and daughters, I have found the time to reach out to old friends whom I’ve lost contact with, I am able to help others create a business for themselves that will bring them either supplemental income or substantial wealth and I have become more giving of my time and knowledge. In short, I am happier, more centered, and calm. My life has been transformed forever and it is more beautiful than it was before, if that’s even possible, because it was pretty awesome to begin with!

I know that I am exactly where I need to be. I am smelling the roses again, I am attracting the right people and the right partners into my life and I am grateful that I have been given this opportunity to do good and feel better.

I am a thirty year veteran Captain of the Chicago Fire Department. I have been decorated numerous times for doing my job well. This career has given me the opportunity to earn a college degree, provide for my family, help my community, and create lifelong friendships. Nothing in my past ever prepared me to enthusiastically introduce and endorse a skin care and direct selling business opportunity to friends and strangers alike.
